Al
Reinert
Jan 24, 1935 — Jan 25, 2025
Alfred "Al" Reinert
Frankenmuth, MI formerly of Millington, MI
Gifted woodworker and antiques enthusiast passed away while celebrating at his 90th birthday party on January 25, 2025. Alfred was born on January 24, 1935, to the late Louis and Lottie Reinert. Al married Connie on November 23, 1974, celebrating 50 years of marriage this past fall. He honorably served in the US Army from 1955-1957. He was self-employed as a carpenter for most of his life. Al was responsible for many home builds and commercial projects in the Frankenmuth area. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. He enjoyed visiting his friends and family, collecting and reconditioning antiques, and rebuilding horse drawn buggies. Many of his projects were made by eye and without plans. He was extraordinarily talented.
Al was a patient man who had a zest for life. Those who met him were always surprised when he would tell them his age. He was very active even up to the last few days. He was very excited to be celebrating his 90th birthday but most importantly that he would be celebrating it with his friends and family. All of Al's 10 kids were together at the party (which took a lot of planning). We are so grateful that we had a photographer that helped to memorialize the event. We will miss "Big Al" tremendously, especially his stories. He had the best stories and always liked to have a good time. We will miss the visits to Las Vegas. He looked forward to those trips where he could spend time with his family and play a little blackjack. We will absolutely miss the 2pm "safety meetings" in his garage at "4751" where we would have a Black Label and hear about the current projects he was working on. We will miss watching the Detroit Tigers and Detroit Lions games with him. He never missed one and was absolutely thrilled at the ride the Lions were on this last season. We will miss hearing about his breakfast friends, and his Thursdays at the "Farm". We're not sure how we will get by without dad, but it helps that we have each other and a lifetime of memories.
Surviving besides his wife Connie are ten children Gary (Kim) Mossner of Tampa, Florida, Craig (Deedee) Reinert of Frankenmuth, Debra (Mike) Sarter of La Verne, California, Eric (Sharon) Reinert of Roseville, California, Brian (Leree) Reinert of Henderson, Nevada, Vaughan (Laura) Reinert of Roseville, California, Jenny (Jerry) Blehm of Frankenmuth, Tammy (Ryan) Strother of Saginaw, Michigan, Julie (Dimitrio) Bayardo of Midland, Michigan, Steve (April) Reinert of Birch Run, Michigan, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, brother Victor (Janette) Reinert.
Al was preceded in death by nine siblings Erwin, Erna Rodammer, Wally, Wymon, Raymond, Harvey, Mildred Schreiner, Beulah Schiefer, and Vera Witt.
