Alvin "Butch" Ortner

Frankenmuth, MI

Alvin "Butch" Leonard Ortner passed peacefully on November 4, 2022 from his home in Frankenmuth, MI to live with his Savior.  Butch was born on May 1,1933 in Frankenmuth to the late Leonhard and Julia (Seidel) Ortner.  He married Lorraine "Mutzie" Rogner on December 20, 1986. She predeceased him on December 11, 2013.   Through their marriage he was blessed with four stepchildren: Susie (Ron) Zwerk of Frankenmuth, MI, Jim (Cindy) Rogner of Frankenmuth, MI, Bill (Sue) Rogner of Fenton, MI, and Fred (Diane) Rogner of Frankenmuth, MI; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and 1 great, great grandson.

Butch is also survived by a nephew, several nieces, and special friend, Arlene Kernstock.  He was predeceased by three sisters Elaine (Walter) Huber, Lois (Arnold) Keinath, and Beatrice (Delmar) Feinauer.

As a lifetime member at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Butch was part of the 1947 confirmation class. He was a member of the Richville Conservation Club.  Claiming to have always been his own boss, he enjoyed a life of farming and land development.  He loved being surrounded by family and friends and enjoyed playing cards, especially when he was the winner.  Butch and Mutzie shared many travel adventures and generously supported numerous causes for children and the hurting.

Memorial services will take place on Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 12 p.m. at the Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street.  Butch's family will receive visitors from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.  Cremation has taken place.  Interment will be in St. Lorenz cemetery.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Leader Dogs for the Blind or Covenant Foundation - NeoNatal ICU.
