Augusta M. "Dolly" Ahejew

Passed away peacefully with family by her side Wednesday, March 26, 2025 at Bavarian Comfort Care; age 78 years. Augusta Fritz was born on November 7, 1946 in Saginaw, MI to the late Edward Garchow and Esther Fritz. She married Russ Ahejew on September 20, 1969; he predeceased her on November 12, 2020.

Dolly was an avid Bingo player and enjoyed scratch off lottery tickets, painting ceramics, word search puzzles, the Detroit Tigers, and University of Michigan sports. She loved spending time with her family. Dolly was a member of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Saginaw.

Surviving are: three children and their spouses, Maria (Doug) Coates, Gregory (Megan) and Paul (Tina); three grandchildren, Jacob, Isabella, and Giovanni; three sisters, Carol (Rob) Racine, Christine DeCaire, and Alisa "Leona" (Allen) Yearwood; brother Matt (Diane) Brown; two brothers-in-law, Pete (Sandy) Ahejew and Alex (Nancy) Ahejew; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Russ, Dolly was preceded in death by brothers William, Joe, and Jerry Fritz; sisters Donna Hare, Esther Lane, and Mary Vetterle; and brothers-in-law Gregory Ahejew, Dan DeCaire and Daniel Vetterle.

Funeral service will take place on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 4970 Mackinaw Rd. Saginaw, Michigan. Fr. Timothy Cook will officiate with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Dolly's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Monday from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
