Barbara Ann Brooks went to be with her heavenly father peacefully on Friday March 29 th at her home in Decatur, Tennessee, age 94. Barbara Guilbault was born on June 23 rd 1924 in Detroit Michigan to Norman and Ann (Yott) Guilbault. She married Robert M. Brooks on September 20 th 1952. He preceded her in death in 1972. Besides her parents, Barb was preceded in death by her sisters Shirley Losee and Beverly Benford.
Barb was an avid bowler and golfer. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was a long time former member of St. Lorenz Church, a den mother for cub scouts and a charter member of the American Legion Post 150 Ladies Auxiliary in Frankenmuth. Barb proudly served her country during World War 2 as a Wave in the U.S. Navy. For many years Barb was a homemaker raising her children. She was a great baker, especially known for her awesome Ginger cookies and double crusted lemon pie! In later years, she worked as a cook at St. Lorenz School and as a receptionist at Independence Village. Barb moved to Tampa FL. in 1991, enjoying retirement in the sunshine state. In 2010 Barb moved to Decatur TN. and enjoyed the rest of her life with her daughter's family & friends.
Barb is survived by her three children, Mark (Patti) Brooks Frankenmuth, Matthew (Linda) Brooks Tampa, Florida, Robin (Harvey) Henry Decatur, Tennessee, grandchildren Courtney, Jacob and Zachary Henry and Amanda Brooks, two great-grandchildren Logan and Maddie Henry and nine nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday June 7 from 11 am -12 noon. Funeral services will take place at St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery immediately following the visitation. Barb will be laid to rest along side her late husband Robert M Brooks. Those planning on expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Pat Summit Clinic - UTMC or charity of your choice.
