Barbara Ann Poellet

Passed away Wednesday, August 18, 2021 at her home after a courageous battle for many years with a multitude of medical conditions; age 79 years. Barbara was born on June 24, 1942 to the late George and Marion Buerkel. She was confirmed in 1956 at Redeemer Lutheran Church, Saginaw. Barbara graduated from Saginaw High and then went on to receive her nursing degree. She was an LPN at Saginaw General (Covenant) in labor and delivery. She married Kenny Lawrence Poellet on September 22, 1962 at Redeemer Lutheran Church; they would have celebrated their 59 th wedding anniversary next month. She was one of the founding members and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 150. When her children where young she volunteered at St. Lorenz Lutheran School in the gym and during summer day camps. Barbara was best known for being a teddy bear artist for 35 plus years owning Barb's Bears; most people called her the "Bear Lady." She loved making bears out of fur coats, flannel shirts or whatever was given to her from families to make remembrances of loved ones passed. She also made 150 teddy bears for the Michigan Capital for their 150 th Anniversary celebration. Early in their marriage Barbara and Kenny traveled around Michigan as well as other states to compete in trap shooting during summer months, she was quite a sharpshooter. During the winter months they enjoyed snowmobiling with families and friends. Barbara and Kenny also enjoyed camping with friends and spent the past 15 years wintering in Arizona. She also loved to bake, cook and spend time with family and friends. Barbara was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.

Barbara is survived by her husband Kenny and their three children Dean Poellet of Vassar, Dellet Poellet (friend Roy LaDrig) of Frankenmuth, Dale Poellet (friend Karen Mc Kimmy) of Frankenmuth; grandson Andrew Poellet of Frankenmuth; sister Patsy Buerkel of Vassar; brother-in-law Danny (Kathy) Poellet of Florida, as well as her grand-puppies Mitza and Maggie.

Barbara was preceded in death by her brother Donald Buerkel.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, August 21, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Cremation to follow. Barbara's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street on Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday at church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Wellspring Lutheran Services Hospice or a charity of Donor's Choice.
