Bernice Louise Curtis, our loving and beautiful Mother, went peacefully home to her Lord and Savior on Monday, May 8th after a lengthy battle with dementia; age 86. Daughter of the late Fred and Murtha (Glasslee) Lund, she was born in Saginaw, Michigan on December 7, 1936. She was a 1955 graduate of Saginaw High School. Bernice was united in marriage in 1960 to Larry Curtis and shared 45 years together. He predeceased her in 2006.
Bernice was first employed at Morley Brothers and was a part of the "Mor-Girls" group. She later went to work at St Mary's Hospital working for Dr. George Koepke then retiring in 1999. Finding retirement not as fulfilling as she hoped, she returned to the work force by joining Wellspring Lutheran Services where one of her tasks was to work on the Hearts for Hospice benefit dinner every year.
She leaves to cherish her children, Denice of Frankenmuth, MI and Terry of Vassar, MI; grandchildren Andrew Hausbeck, Aaron (Mayu) Hausbeck of South Lyon, MI; Adam (Dawn) Hausbeck of Midland, MI; Nicholas Curtis of Reese, MI; great grandchildren Landon, Jaiden, Kennedy Hausbeck and Charlotte Hausbeck; sister Elaine Knight of Birch Run, MI; brother Fred (Loxie) Lund of Ocala, FL; and her favorite niece and first Godchild Pam Davis of Birch Run, MI.
Bernice was preceded in death by her brother Robert Lund; daughter-in-law Yvonne Tromblay; and infant daughter September.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 1:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI. Bernice's family will receive visitors at the church from 11:00 a.m. until time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Wellspring Camp Hope, a bereavement camp for kids.
