Beverley J. Bender, age 85 of Frankenmuth, MI., passed away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior on August 29, 2024 at Harbour Village, Greendale, WI. Beverley was born on December 11, 1938, in Highland Park, MI to the late John and Dorothy (Schwanke) Barrett. She married Elden Bender on June 22, 1963, she survived his passing on October 4, 2023.

Before Beverley became a life-long member of St. Lorenz Church, she was baptized in Detroit and confirmed at Peace Lutheran in Livonia, MI. While at Peace Lutheran, she was a member of the choir and taught Sunday school.

Beverley graduated from Bentley High School in Livonia and while in high school worked for a local optometrist for several years. She attended her freshman year at Dr. Martin Luther College in New Ulm, MN from Sep 1956 – Jun 1957. She returned home to Livonia where she worked at Consumer Power for the next few years until she met Elden Bender.

After Elden and Beverley were married, they raised three boys together. Beverley was the Welcome Wagon lady in Frankenmuth for many years, welcoming newcomers to town. She worked closely with the Chamber of Commerce and she and Elden decided to start the Bender Haus Bed & Breakfast in Frankenmuth. After several successful years, they purchased the William Clements Inn in Bay City, MI to expand their B&B business. They hosted and entertained customers from all over the world for 40 years.

Beverley and Elden celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in June 2023. During their marriage they enjoyed bowling, square dancing, camping, traveling both domestically and abroad, and hosting get-togethers with friends and family.

Surviving are her sons Daniel, Bella Vista, AR; David (Kendis), Vermilion, OH; and Mark (Andrea), Greendale, WI; grandchildren Alex (Megan), Eric (Aubrey), Rachel, Ethan, Lauren, and Owen; great-grandson Jamie.

Beverley was preceded in death by her half-brother Bernard Kelly.

Funeral services will take place on Saturday, September 28, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Frankenmuth, MI. Pastor Eden will officiate. Beverley's family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to The Lutheran Hour Ministries, St. Lorenz Lutheran school, or St. Lorenz Churchgrove.
