Bruce Eldon Caliman, passed on to his heavenly home on July 27th, 2026 at the age of 84 after leading a faithful and happy life.

Bruce, the only child of Jay and Mabel (Croston) Caliman, was born August 12, 1941 in Saginaw, MI. He graduated Saginaw High School in 1959 and was an active member of Holiness Tabernacle Wesleyan Methodist Church.

In 1963 Bruce graduated from Wesleyan Methodist University in Indiana with his bachelor's in education. He started his career at Bridgeport high school where he would go on to teach Science, Social studies, Government, driver's training and coach both football and baseball.

In the spring of 1967, Bruce was introduced to Maureen Neuman (as a blind date). They were married within a year in Hart, MI on June 22, 1968. In 1972 they welcomed their son Rory, followed by daughter, Kelly, in 1974.

Bruce and Maureen were active members of St. John Lutheran church, where Bruce served as an Usher and Elder for years. In addition to serving at church, Bruce loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter, fisher and golfer and shared that love with his family, teaching Rory to hunt and the entire family to golf. Family vacations were typically camping which included bike rides around Mackinaw Island and spending time in the upper peninsula of Michigan.

Bruce continued to work for the Bridgeport school district, earning his Masters +40 from Central Michigan University. Bruce retired in 2006 having taught for 45 years and educating, in some cases, three generations of Bridgeport families.

Bruce was predeceased by Maureen on April 11, 2026, his wife of 58 years. He leaves behind his son, Rory, daughter, Kelly (Ted) Stevens, granddaughters Lilly and Isabella. His sisters-in-law, Linda Neuman, Nancy (Loyd) Hopper and his brother-in-law, Tom (Wanda) Callahan along with nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

The family has decided to have a private celebration of life at St. Stephens Lutheran in Shelby, MI.
