Carl Schreiner

Frankenmuth, MI

Carl "Carlie" Schreiner went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 26, 2023 at New Hope Bay in Bay City. He was 90 years old. Carl Herman Schreiner was born on April 15, 1933 in Saginaw, Michigan to Rudolph and Lydia (Schluckebier) Schreiner. On July 30, 1955 he was married to Mildred Marion Reinert from Millington, and they made their home in Frankenmuth.

Carl grew up on the family farm and worked alongside his parents and siblings on the farm until he reached age 18. At that time, he started to work for Star of the West hauling corn and coal. Carl's career started in 1951, and he officially retired with 45 years of dedicated service in 1996, after logging more than 4 million miles for the company. However, he remained employed on a part time basis as a truck driver for another 11 years and was recognized for 56 years of safe driving. Carl received the Trucker Driver of the Year Award in 1995 from Ryder Truck Rental.

In 1953 Carl enlisted in the US Army and spent two years in Korea and Japan from 1953-1955. He was proud to be a veteran and was a member of the Frankenmuth American Legion Post 150 for more than 60 years. Carl was also a member of the Korean War Veterans Association Chapter 251 of Saginaw County.

Carl attended St. Lorenz Lutheran School and was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church where he served as Head Usher for many years. He and Millie also worked the cemetery grounds at the church for many years. His hobbies over the years were many, including hunting, fishing, bowling, following Marv Herzog as a blue jacket member, and in his later years taking bus tours to Branson and various casinos.

Carl is survived by three children: Cindy Tuck, Dennis Schreiner, and Terry (Suzanne) Schreiner all of Frankenmuth; five grandchildren - Jacob Schreiner, Jamie Schreiner, Joshua (Erica) Schreiner, Nathanial (Allie) Schreiner, and Nicholas (Lauren) Tuck; and five great grandchildren - Micah Schreiner, Madelyn and Isabelle Schreiner, Grace and Noah Schreiner. Carl is survived by one brother, James Schreiner and brothers and sisters-in-law Alfred (Connie) Reinert, Victor (Janette) Reinert, and Marian Reinert. Many nieces and nephews also survive him.

Carl was preceded in death by his brother and sister: Roy (Marie) Schreiner and Mildred (Arnold) Rogner, and sisters and brothers-in-law Virginia Schreiner, Erwin (Erna) Reinert, Walter (Genevieve) Reinert, Erna (Arnold) Rodammer, Harvey (Marion) Reinert, Vera (Herb) Witt, Raymond Reinert, Beulah (Edward) Schiefer, Wyman Reinert, and Leona Reinert.

Franklin in Frankenmuth from 3-7 p.m. on Monday, October 2, 2023 and from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church on Tuesday.
