C. John Ulrich, 85, of Au Gres, MI, passed away peacefully on October 27, 2019, in Dade City, FL with his Sweetheart Kathy McKinley by his side.

John was born May 20, 1934 to the late Hans and Mary (Schmidt) Ulrich. He grew up in Frankenmuth and went on to graduate from Arthur Hill Trade School. Throughout his life he owned many different businesses; including, a gas station and mechanic shop in Houghton Lake, and Mariner Market in Omer before taking a position at Rhode Brothers Excavating in Saginaw, where he eventually retired from.

In his youth, John enjoyed racing cars and was elected mayor of Tip Up Town in Houghton Lake in 1969. An avid fisherman, John spent as much time as possible on the water. He also enjoyed restoring vehicles and playing his accordion for family and friends to enjoy. John enjoyed many years of flying his airplanes as a private pilot. After retirement he enjoyed traveling around the country with his sweetheart Kathy and their dog Chamois. It seemed like no matter how far he traveled, he would run into someone he knew or start up a new friendship.

John is survived by his two children; Charles (Kim) Ulrich and Anne Ulrich; three siblings; Lillian Osborne, Arlene Ulrich, Betty (Mike) Caswell, two grandchildren Amelia and Max Ulrich, and many other loved ones. He was preceded in death by his sister Marian Marklein and brother William Ulrich.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, November 7, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. with burial to follow at St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. John's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.
