Charles M. Zehnder

Birch Run, MI

Went home to his Lord Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his home with family by his side; age 79 years. Charlie was born on September 28, 1941 in Saginaw, MI to the late Ruben and Else Zehnder. He was previously married to Kathryn Warnick, she predeceased him in 1991. Then in 1994 he married Vickie Fleming, she survives him.

Charlie owned and operated Rau Brothers in Frankenmuth, later he worked at A.T. Frank and at Gill-Roy's Hardware. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and the Frankenmuth Rotary Club. Charlie enjoyed spending time outdoors and at Canada Creek Ranch. He also loved woodworking.

Surviving besides his wife Vickie are: one daughter Dawn (Jeff) Hoard of Richland, MI; one stepson Ryan Fleming; three grandchildren Eric (Samantha) Hoard, Kathryn Hoard, and Abbey Hoard; three great grandchildren Eli, Warren, and Isaac Hoard; one brother Marvin (Monica) Zehnder; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his wife Kathryn, Charlie was preceded in death by his son, Matthew Zehnder.

Funeral Service will take place on Monday, April 12, 2021, 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan, and it will also be livestreamed at stlorenz.org/stream . Reverend Joel Kaiser will officiate with burial to follow in St. Lorenz Cemetery. Charlie's family will receive visitors at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Saginaw Rescue Mission or St. Lorenz Media Ministry.
