Christine Marie Maurer, 65 went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Sunday, May 16, 2021 at Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home in Bay City, MI.
On January 1, 1956, Christine was the first-born child of Arnold and Elaine (Zehnder) Maurer in Saginaw, MI. She attended St. Michael's Lutheran School in Richville, MI and graduated as the 1974 salutatorian at Vassar High School in Vassar, MI.
Christine graduated from Ferris State University with a degree in medical technology. She advanced her career in Florida where she received certification in blood banking while working at the Central Florida Blood Bank. She accepted a position at St. Joseph Hospital in Flint, MI where she supervised donor processing and transfusions. Christine then moved to La Fayette, IN to become the supervisor of blood bank and hematology departments.
As her parents aged, she decided to move back to the family farm near Frankenmuth, MI. Christine worked at the Bavarian Inn Lodge from 1998 to 2017 in various positions and departments.
Christine was a devoted caregiver to her parents often stating, "no one takes care of family like family."
Christine loved reading, working in her flower garden, cooking, collecting flamingos, and of course cats.
Christine was preceded in death by her parents Arnold and Elaine Maurer and her brother-in-law Raymond Jivery.
Surviving are siblings Richard (Linda) Maurer of Marietta GA, Margaret Jivery of Tempe, AZ, and Timothy (Mary) Maurer of Lake Ann, MI; three nephews and four nieces; 10 great nieces and great nephews; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is also survived by her lifelong friend, Wally Ayotte of Hartland, MI.
The family wishes to thank all of those who lifted Christine up with cards, prayers and words of encouragement throughout her journey and battle with cancer.
Memorial service will take place on Saturday, May 22, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 3455 S. Van Buren Road, Richville, Michigan. Rev. Wesley Gillaspie will officiate. Christine's family will receive visitors at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Michael's Lutheran Church, Rachel Sovereign Memorial Home, Grace Hospice, or a charity of donor's choice.
