Connie J. (Schrems) Chowaniec

Frankenmuth, Michigan

Passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 6, 2025 at Frankenmuth Winter Village, age 78 following a lengthy illness.

The daughter of the late Julius "Bud" and Stella Schrems, Connie was born July 30,1946 in Saginaw, Michigan. She married Joseph F. Chowaniec on August 5, 1967. He survives her. While lifelong residents of Frankenmuth, Conne and Joe spent two years in St. Louis, MO while Joe was serving for the US Army.

Connie was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church where she volunteered on various committees. She also was employed for several years in the medical offices Dr. Scott Beasecker, Dr. Jacob Ninan and as an administrative assistant in Bridgeport Schools. She loved living on her farm raising horses and chickens; loved cooking and baking - especially with her granddaughter Lauren and working on various crafts. She and Joe enjoyed traveling, spending time in both Kalamazoo, Michigan and Houston, Texas watching their grandchildren participate in various activities and sports. Connie also enjoyed spending time visiting with family and friends and driving her '65 Mustang.

Connie is survived by her husband Joe and two children Jennifer (Gerald) Gormley of Kalamazoo, MI and Michael (Wendy) Chowaniec of Conroe, TX, five grandchildren (Joshua and Lauren Gormley and Brody, Tate and Beck Chowaniec); a sister Peggy Snarey of Frankenmuth; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral Mass will take place on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola St. Frankenmuth, MI. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Connie's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Frankenmuth, on Tuesday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 6:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.
