Passed away and joined the Lord on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Covenant Glen; age 98 years. Cora Shoup was born on July 28, 1924 in Blumfield Township, MI. She was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Saginaw, MI on June 23, 1940. On November 17, 1944 Cora enlisted in the United States Army, where she honorably served her country. She was honorably discharged from the Army on January 11, 1946 as Private First Class. Cora was married to George Reinbold on December 23, 1946, he predeceased her on August 5, 2006 at age 86, after 60 years of marriage. They lived most of their life in Saginaw, MI and then moved to Interlochen, MI. Cora had been a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen for over 39 years. She retired from her career as a Group Chief Operator for Michigan Bell Telephone after 36 years. Cora was very happy to have been retired for just about 40 years, upon which she and her husband George enjoyed life on Duck Lake in Interlochen.
Cora and George had two children: Sherry (John) Hargash and George (Linda) Reinbold; five grandchildren; and six great grandchildren who they enjoyed immensely. Cora had four brothers; three sisters; and many nieces and nephews.
Cora was preceded in death by her husband George and daughter Sherry Hargash.
Funeral service will take place on Monday, August 8, 2022 at 12:00 p.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola St. Rev. Shawn Fenske will officiate with burial to follow at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cora's family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church – Interlochen, or to a charity of one's choice. Cora was very generous to many causes – a few special causes being The Salvation Army, Autism Research, and Land Preservation.
