Curtis Armin List, age 97, was called home to his Lord and Savior on July 21, 2026, surrounded by family.
Curt was born on June 11, 1929, in St. Joseph, Michigan, the child of Armin and Alma (Keinath) List. He was baptized on September 15, 1929, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He was confirmed on April 18, 1943, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Saginaw. He was united in marriage to the love of his life Marian Haubenstricker on September 27, 1952, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth.
He honorably served in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean Conflict. After discharge, he returned home and worked for Morley Brothers and later for St. Lorenz Lutheran School. He was an active member of Redeemer Lutheran Church serving on various boards before becoming an active member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.
Curt loved gardening, playing cards, and square dancing. He was a member of Calico Twirlers Square Dance Club for 30 years. He was a proud member of American Legion Post 150 for 47 years.
Surviving are his loving wife; three children, Sandra (John) Nuechterlein, Michael (Sandra Sue) List, and James (Amy) List; five grandchildren Jennifer Nuechterlein, Jason (Nikki) Nuechterlein, Danielle (Jeremy) Brodsky, Michelle List, and Kirsten (David) Franczek; brothers and sisters-in-law Ralph (Irene) Haubenstricker and Dora Haubenstricker; as well as several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Curt was predeceased by his parents; sister Nancy (Norman) Daenzer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Wilmar (Marie) Haubenstricker, Carl (Lorine) Haubenstricker, Wallace (Esther) Haubenstricker, Maynard Haubenstricker, Lorine (Vern) Schwab, and step-granddaughter Noelle Martin.
The family would like to thank the staff of Wellspring Hospice for their care for Curt.
Funeral Service will take place on Saturday July 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. The Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate with burial to follow at St. Lorenz Cemetery. Curt’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at the church from 9:00 a.m. until time of service.
Memorials may be directed to St. Lorenz Lutheran School or American Legion Post 150.
