Went home to be with his Lord, after a lengthy illness on Saturday, May 20, 2023 at Covenant Glen of Frankenmuth; age 85 years. Dan was born on November 15, 1937, in Columbus, OH to the late Anthony and Louise Walter. He honorably served in the U.S. Air Force. He graduated from the University of Notre Dame with a master's degree in architecture. Dan married Elaine on January 16, 1965; she survives him.

He worked on the design of the World Trade Center for Yamasaki. He also worked for Alden Dow, another architectural firm, as well as being self employed and designing many buildings in Frankenmuth. Dan was also a Professor at Delta College. He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth Rotary, being a Paul Harris Fellow, also a member of the Frankenmuth Jaycees, the Frankenmuth Historical Preservation District Commission, American Legion Post 150, and an honorary member of the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce.

Surviving besides his wife Elaine are sons and daughter Michael (Kellie) Fassezke of Frankenmuth, MI, David (Cheryl) Fassezke of East Lansing, MI, Kathleen (Anthony) Grasel of Frankenmuth, MI; grandchildren Mallorie (Joe) Skinner, Riley (Molly) Fassezke, Brianna (A.J.) Powell, Tyler Fassezke, Ethan Fassezke, Olivia Fassezke, Jessica (Gabe) Charboneau, and Ali (Brad) Lichota; great grandchildren Reya, Uriah, Isaiah, Emmie, and Owen, and one brother James Walter.

Dan was predeceased by one sister Catherine Ann Sullivan and daughter-in-law Shelley Fassezke.

Memorial Service will take place on Friday, June 2, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Cremation has taken place. Dan's family will receive visitors on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the I support the 1% Veteran Food Pantry or St. Lorenz Church Beautification. Many thanks to the staff at Covenant Glen for their kind and loving care for Dan.
