Dennis Charles Bamberg
Frankenmuth, MI
Went home to be with the Lord, Friday, January 7, 2022, at Houston Methodist Hospital. Dennis was born August 13, 1939, to the late Charles and Molly (Klemm) Bamberg in Saginaw, Michigan. He married Mary Ann Laux on November 23, 1963, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth. Mary Ann and their unborn child predeceased him on December 18, 1969. Dennis then married Vera (Zehnder) on June 26, 1971, at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, Frankenmuth. They recently celebrated their 50 th wedding anniversary.
Dennis was very active his whole life, still working up until Christmas when he took some time to be with family. He unexpectedly fell ill and was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Within a week's time, with his wife by his side, he went to heaven.
Dennis had a remarkable work ethic and provided generously for his family. He graduated from Arthur Hill Tech School and took on several mechanical jobs before completing an apprenticeship through General Motors. He worked as a tinsmith for 42 years. After his retirement from General Motors, Dennis signed on to work again as jack-of-all-trades, most recently with Team Wieland Truck and Trailer where he had remained for the past 16 years.
Dennis was extremely active with his family and within the community. He creatively engineered and meticulously completed innumerable projects. He was always willing to lend a hand. Dennis loved spending time at the cottage, taking trips to visit family, snowmobiling up north, and going on mission trips to Nicaragua. His Christian faith was displayed through service. He had been an Elder, Service Coordinator, Usher, Trustee, and Church Beautification Committee member at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. He also assumed several roles within the Frankenmuth Snowmobile Club and served on the Board of Directors for Frankenmuth Conservation Club and B.A.S.I.C. Nicaragua.
Dennis is survived by his wife, Vera, daughter Carmen (Lee) George, son Matthew (Damaris), daughter Suzy (Bart) Eberle, grandchildren Adam and Eric George, Noah and Abby Bamberg, Charlie and Addison Eberle, Lily and Emily Camp, brother Barry and sisters Kay Duve and Darlene (Tim) Booth, brothers-in-law Harvey (Jane) Zehnder and Jon (Cheryl) Scharrer along with many more family and friends.
Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Dennis' family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Monday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. The service will be livestreamed at stlorenz.org/stream.
