Obituary

Doris Bechtel

Frankenmuth, MI

Our beloved wife, mother, and grandmother Doris Gertrude (Zietz) Bechtel went to be with her heavenly father on December 29, 2023 at Covenant Cooper surrounded by her family. She was a kind and loving soul who dearly was loved by all who met her.

Doris was born on February 2, 1932 in Saginaw, MI to the late Alfred and Gertrude (Gerken) Zietz. She graduated from Saginaw High School and worked for Bronner's Christmas Wonderland for 22 years. She married the love of her life, Richard Bechtel on February 14, 1953, at the Chapel in the Garden Angola, Indiana. They were married for 70 wonderful years.

Doris was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith and was a current member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. She enjoyed cooking, especially baking cookies, sewing, word search, and trips to Gulf Shores, Alabama in the winter. She was very organized and saved all birthday, anniversary, and Christmas cards from her family. She also enjoyed hosting holiday get-togethers with her family.

Doris is survived by her loving husband Richard Bechtel, daughters Connie (Tony) Schultz, Sandy (Bob) Rummel, and son Bob Bechtel and his partner Rose Woodward. Grandchildren Jacob Schultz, Evan (Amanda) Rummel, Stephanie (Rob) Anderson, Daniel Schultz, Kyle (Alexis) Bechtel and Allyson Bechtel. Great Grandchildren Max and Myles Rummel, Charlotte and Avery Anderson, Benjamin and Haddie Bechtel. Sister-in-law Teresa Midcalf and Brother-in-law Edward Roenicke and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Raymond Zietz.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff of Adira Nursing and Rehab for their compassionate and loving care of Doris. Also, we would like to thank Vicar Joshua Teggatz from St. Lorenz Church for his visits and spiritual message to Doris and her family.
