Dorothy Louise Arlt

Vassar, MI

Passed away Sunday, September 5, 2021 at Covenant Cooper Medical Center; age 84 years.  Dorothy Cameron was born on August 23, 1937 in Detroit, MI. She was married to John Raymond Arlt in Southfield, MI on January 24, 1959, together they enjoyed traveling, camping and spending time with their family; he predeceased her in 2003.

Dorothy was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Birch Run. She graduated from Michigan State University with a bachelor's degree in education in 1960, and then went on to George Washington University to receive her master's in administration for higher education in 1975. Dorothy was an elementary school teacher in South Dakota, Michigan, and Ohio, moving often as her husband John was in the Air Force. She spent many years working in nursing homes as a volunteer coordinator, and then as a nursing home ombudsman. Dorothy also taught bible school in many states across the country, was a Girl Scout and Cub Scout leader, youth sponsor, and a member of various advocacy boards.

Surviving are daughter Pastor Sue (John) Trinklein, sons Fred Arlt (April Ayres) of Largo, FL, Rob Arlt of Vassar, MI; grandchildren James Trinklein (Jess Butler) of Seattle, WA, Wayne Trinklein (Corrie Adams) of Seattle, WA, Katie Trinklein (Greg Ondrus) of Lansing, MI; four great grandchildren Edison, Margot, Albert, and Augustus "Gus"; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will take place Saturday, September 25, 2021 at 12:00 p.m. at Christ Lutheran Church, 8101 Poellet St., Birch Run, Michigan. Pastor Sue Trinklein will officiate with burial to follow in Blumfield Township Cemetery. Dorothy's family will receive visitors on Friday, September 24th at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Frankenmuth, MI 48734 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at the church from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service.
