Dorothy Bleke

Elizabeth, Illinois formerly of Frankenmuth, Michigan

Loving mother and grandmother passed away Monday, June 3, 2019, at Elizabeth Nursing Home in Elizabeth, Illinois; age 101 years.  Dorothy was born on August 2, 1917. She was married to Walter Bleke, he predeceased her on February 5, 2002. Dorothy possessed a positive outlook on life and had a keen sense of humor. She enjoyed life and made the most of each day. Throughout her many years, Dorothy maintained an active interest in the vast changes that occurred in her lifetime. She always wanted to learn more. Dorothy was a long-time resident of Chicago and remained a loyal White Sox fan all her life. While by nature a private person, Dorothy was an engaged and invaluable partner with her husband's work as a Lutheran schoolteacher and principal, and she was not without her opinions. Dorothy was many things to many people. To her three kids, she remains the best mother ever. She was wise, kind, and caring and allowed and encouraged them to become their own unique person. Thanks, Ma. You're the best.

Surviving are her children: Corinne (Dick) Beutel, Bert (Jan), and Dwight (Barb). Dorothy was a much-loved grandmother of seven and great grandmother of nine.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her daughter-in-law, Barbara Bleke (née Rummel).

A memorial service will take place at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday June 11, 2019. Rev. Joel Kaiser will officiate. Private family committal service to follow. Dorothy's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. till the time of service.
