Duane Jack Eischer, lovingly known as "Dewey," passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, June 30, 2023 and went to be with the Lord; age 81 years old. Dewey was born November 25, 1941 in Saginaw, MI to the late Herman "Whitey" and Elsie (Veitengruber) Eischer. After his mother's death in 1951, when he was 9 years old he went to live with his aunt and uncle Edna and Herbert Keinath. He married the love of his life, Delores Bierlein, on November 27, 1965 at St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville, MI. They were married for 57 wonderful years and she survives him.
Dewey graduated from Frankenmuth High School with the Class of 1960. He served honorably in the Michigan Army National Guard from 1963 to 1969 and was employed by TSD (Universal Engineering), retiring after 42 years. Dewey was a faithful lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, where he served as an usher and with Media Ministry.
He cherished his family, friends, and their many exciting adventures. Dewey loved bowling, gardening, growing winter radishes and sharing them with friends, tending his lawn, spending time up north at the cabin, deer hunting, playing euchre, and watching sports, especially the Detroit Lions, Detroit Tigers, and Michigan State Spartans. He is remembered for his kindness, storytelling, easygoing nature, and fun-loving spirit.
Surviving besides his wife Delores are: his daughter and son-in-law Rachel and David Rodibaugh Jr. of Laguna Niguel, CA; two grandchildren, Jack and Gianna Rodibaugh; beloved cousins Tom (Karen) Keinath and Tim Keinath's wife Agnes; and many dear nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Dewey was preceded in death by his sister, Ione Eischer; brothers Ronald and Frederick Eischer; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Gordon (Viola) Bierlein, C. Fred "Fritz" (Irma) (Dorothy Gugel) Bierlein, and Ronald (Gertrude) Bierlein; nephew Mike Bierlein; and beloved cousin Tim Keinath.
Prayer service will take place on Friday, July 7, 2023 at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. Those who wish to attend electronically can use the following link: www.stlorenz.org/stream/. Pastor Hubbard will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Lutheran Cemetery. Dewey's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the prayer service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Church Media Ministry.
