Duane Frederick Hartman passed away Tuesday, July 25, 2023, at the age of 80, at his home with his sons by his side, after battling health issues. Duane was born December 31, 1942, in Saginaw, MI, to the late Frederick and Florence Hartman. Duane graduated from Frankenmuth High School and furthered his education at Delta Community College, as a tool and die maker. He married Jane, the love of his life, on January 28, 1978, and missed her dearly every day since her passing. After 35 years of service, he retired from General Motors in 1997.
Duane was an avid sportsman who volunteered his time at Frankenmuth Conservation Club and Grand Blanc Huntsman's Club. His favorite activity was hunting and fishing with his sons. He enjoyed competing in shooting tournaments and spending his winters in Florida. Traveling was an important part of his life and together with Jane they ventured to destinations far and wide each year. Duane was a wine connoisseur who enjoyed making his own wine. He could often be seen with his beloved dachshund dogs on walks about town.
He is survived by his three sons Tony (Sue) Hartman, Andrew (Shawn) Hartman, Chris (Barbara) Hartman; his daughter Yady (Todd) Russell, who came to the family as an exchange student in 1978; Ten incredible grandchildren, Rachael, Anthony, Isabelle, Noah, Hayden, Lacie, Austin, Cheyenne, Gyanna and Jacquelyn; Five great grandchildren: Layla, Everly, Jameson, Skylar and Sylas; and his sister Janice (Bob) Wilkinson.
