Edward Barnes

Birch Run, MI

Passed away unexpectedly Saturday, November 16, 2019, at his home; age 90 years.  Edward Barnes was born on September 8, 1929 in Huntington, WV to the late Charles and Mildred Barnes.   He was married to Susan Engel on August 16, 1977; she survives him.  He honorably served in the U.S. Airforce during Korean conflict and stayed in the Airforce Reserves until 1967.  He received his doctorate from Auburn University.  He taught at Saginaw Valley State University and other colleges throughout his career.  He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 150.

Surviving besides his wife Susan are: 1 daughter Lynda Gill; 1 son Edward Glenn Morrison Barnes; 1 granddaughter Kerri L. Gill; his beloved sister-in-law Michele Freiberger.

Edward was preceded in death besides his parents by his sister Hope Barnes and grandparents William and Clara (Alice) Hayes.

Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.  According to Edward's wishes, cremation has taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Pet Angel Adoption and Rescue of Frankenmuth.
