Edward D. "Dal" Crary

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away Monday, January 16, 2023 at Winter Village; age 95 years.  Dal was born on July 25, 1927 in Flint, MI to the late Orville and Bessie (VanCamp) Crary. He was married to Wanda Bardwell on December 6, 1947 in Flushing, MI; She predeceased him in March 2003.

Dal served in the U.S. Marine Corps during World War II. He then spent 43 years in the Insurance Industry, the last 28 years with Frankenmuth Mutual, and retired in 1990 as President of Frankenmuth Mutual Insurance Company. Dal served on various boards for the Frankenmuth community. Dal was a member of Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, the American Legion, Life Member of the Frankenmuth Historical Association, and Michigan 1752 Club.

Surviving are: his son Donald Crary of Frankenmuth; daughter Brenda (Dan) Eastman of Reese; grandchildren Stacey Eastman, James Eastman, Kalynn (Brian) Stearns, and Michael Crary; great-grandchildren Tyler Eastman, Taylor Eastman, Taryn Eastman, Hailey Hooks, Chase Eastman, and Izabella Eastman; great-great-grandchildren Aliyah and Autumn; son-in-law Tom List; daughter-in-law JoAnn Crary; special close friend Gloria Olgaard, and many nieces and nephews.

Dal was preceded in death by his wife Wanda, daughter Lynn List, granddaughter Shelli List, and his brother Jack (Celia) Crary.

Funeral services will take place on Friday, January 20, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 E Vates St. in Frankenmuth. Rev. Ryan Wenburg will officiate. Dal's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
