Edward Nettleton

Edward W. Nettleton, age 97 years, beloved father and grandfather, passed from his home in Frankenmuth into the home of his heavenly Father on Father's Day, June 21, 2020.

Ed, the only child of the late Frederic and Louise (Herner) Nettleton, was born in Rhodes, Michigan on November 19, 1922. He was a member of the Greatest Generation, serving as a signalman in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II and the Korean War. He married Betty Jane Blumenthal in 1958, who predeceased him in 1997. He was employed by Buick in Flint, Michigan for 25 years as a pattern maker. Ed was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, the American Legion Post 150, and the VFW where he served for many years as part of the color guard. He was active in Boy Scouts, an avid bowler, and loved to spend time at "The Place" on Lake Huron near Cheboygan, Michigan.

Ed is survived by his sons, Max (Barbara) Nettleton and Kent Nettleton, his grandchild, Keila Nettleton, and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and their families.

Memorial Service will take place on Thursday, June 25, 2020, 1:00 p.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan with burial to follow. Edward's family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to St. Lorenz Lutheran School or Michigan Great Lakes Chapter Alzheimer's Association.
