Eleanor Louise Webb (also known as Pinky and GrandE) age 96, passed away peacefully at home in Frankenmuth, Michigan on July 22, 2026. She had lived in Bryan, Ohio for 60 years until residing with her children in both Maryland and Michigan. She was born on May 25, 1930, in Piqua, OH to Mary Elizabeth Hole and Wilbur Lovell Hole. She was married to J. Russell Webb who preceded her in death.

Eleanor was a person of great strength and pride. Although she was born during the Depression, she always remembered growing up in the little town of Fletcher, OH as being a time and place filled with lots of love, friendship, and fun! She attended Brown Local School and graduated in 1948. She was proud of the fact that she and her brother Dick were the first set of twins to graduate together from their school. She was valedictorian, though she often joked that there were only nine in her class! She attended Defiance College where she studied elementary education and worked in the cafeteria to pay for her own college education. Due to a teacher shortage, she was granted admission into the “cadet program” and thus began teaching sixth grade only two years later in 1950 at Brown Local School, where she had once been a student. She enrolled in night and summer school classes to complete her undergraduate degree in 1955 and went on to earn an MS at Miami University in Oxford, OH in Educational Administration and Supervision in 1959. She continued to teach in Fletcher for thirteen years until she married and moved to Bryan, OH in 1963.

She was considered a master teacher and was offered a position at Defiance College. However, she declined due to her love of being in an elementary classroom. After relocating to Bryan and starting a family, she accepted a part-time position as a reading specialist in the Edgerton Local School District. She eventually taught kindergarten there full-time and retired after a total of 41 years of teaching. She cared deeply about her students and co-workers and touched many lives throughout her career.

Eleanor was also a woman of great faith and loved her church family. She was a member of Faith United Methodist Church in Bryan for 60 years and served on many committees. She was secretary of the United Methodist Women’s Auxiliary, served as a Lay Delegate for the West Ohio United Methodist Conference, chaired her church’s decorating committee, visited homebound church members and friends through FISH (Fellowship In Someone’s Home), and participated in many bible study groups. She also volunteered with her church’s vacation bible school, annual bazaar, and car show food booth. She had an amazing experience when she travelled to Jerusalem with other members of her church.

She enjoyed donating time to her community as well. She was a member of the Delta Zeta Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma International for Key Women Educators and served as secretary of the Williams County Teachers Association. She was a member of the hospital auxiliary at Bryan Community Hospital where she held the offices of secretary, vice president, and president. She also volunteered her time at the hospital gift shop as well as at the front desk reception area.

Eleanor made the most out of life and liked having fun, whether it was shopping, collecting treasures, reading, doing puzzles, crocheting, or just spending time with friends. She played in a local Euchre card club for 59 years with some of her dearest friends. She also enjoyed travelling and took many trips with her children, family, and friends. In addition to visiting the Holy Land, she visited several countries in Europe, made a trip to Mexico, and travelled to 30 states, including visiting her daughter in Hawaii four times!

Eleanor’s genuine and unconditional love and devotion to her family was one of her greatest gifts. She absolutely loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She is survived by her daughter Holly (Scott) Bair of Pasadena, MD, and her son Jonathan (Anne) Webb of Frankenmuth, MI. “GrandE” was so proud of her grandchildren who also survive: Brennan, Doyle (Faith), and Sarr Webb, all of Frankenmuth, MI and Shafer Webb of Atlanta, GA; as well as Carly Bair of Yreka, CA and Garrett Bair of Pasadena, MD. “Aunt Pinky” is also survived by her nieces Beth and Susan Hole of Troy, OH, as well as her great niece Becky (Nate) Snell and their children Allie, Lillian, and Christopher of Tipp City, OH. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilbur Hole and Elizabeth (Hole) Neff, stepfather Ernest Neff, twin brother and sister-in-law Richard (Dick) and Judy Hole, their infant son Michael Hole, niece and nephew Micky and Steve Williams, and nephew Patrick Hole. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her but will be remembered in their hearts forever.

A celebration of life service will be held at Faith United Methodist Church in Bryan, OH at a later date. Memorials may be made to Faith United Methodist or to St. Jude’s Hospital, one of Eleanor’s favorite charities.
