Obituary

Ella Beyerlein

Frankenmuth, MI

Loving mother and grandmother, went to her heavenly home on Friday, January 26, 2018 at the age of 92 years.  Ella Reinert was born on February 11, 1925 in Frankenmuth Township (Frankentrost) to the late Lorenz and Theresa Reinert.  She married Herbert F. Beyerlein on April 15, 1945 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Frankentrost.  He predeceased her on January 31, 2001 after 55 years of marriage.

In her early years, Ella worked at Fisher's Hotel in Frankenmuth as a waitress/hostess.  She served her country during World War II as a "Rosie the Riveter" making airplane parts.  Later, Ella was employed by Bronner's Christmas Wonderland and then worked 23 years in the office of her husband's investment/brokerage business.

Ella was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, the Lutheran Women's Missionary League and enjoyed making blankets for Lutheran World Relief.  She was a life member of the Frankenmuth Historical Association and served as the Frankenmuth Fire Department's historian for many years.  Through her husband's military service, Ella was a life member of the Eighth Air Force Historical Society attending many annual reunions with Herb and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 150 serving as Secretary.   Ella regularly volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Store and the Clothesline.

Ella loved to travel and planned many fun family vacations all over the country.  She visited all 50 states and took several trips overseas.  In 1962 Ella and Herb joined a group of Frankenmuth residents on the People to People tour to Gunzenhausen, Germany establishing Frankenmuth's sister city.  She hosted German guests in her home, wrote letters in German to her friends overseas, and had a passion for family genealogy including research in Germany.  Several foreign exchange students also enjoyed Ella's hospitality.

Ella was blessed with many gifts and talents and enjoyed cooking, baking, gardening, sewing, crocheting, fishing and playing cards.  She loved spending time with family and friends.  Ella's warm heart, love of life and her big smile will be missed by all.

Surviving are three daughters: Jean (Phil) Cramer, Jane (Jim) Novis, and Karen Beyerlein; one granddaughter, Sarah Novis (Christopher) Walsh; and one great-grandchild due in February.  Ella also leaves her brother George (Shirley) Reinert, brother-in-law Edward (Jane) Beyerlein, and many wonderful nieces, nephews and friends.

Ella was preceded in death by her sisters, Esther (Roy) Bartels and infant sister Florence.
