Emeline
Goodman
Jun 6, 1933 — May 26, 2026
Emeline Hilda Erna “Emy” Goodman, née Thieme, most recently of Winter Village in Frankenmuth, passed away peacefully on May 26, surrounded by the love of her family. Emeline was born on June 6, 1933, in Saginaw, Michigan the daughter of Alfred August Thieme and Emma E Hoffmann Thieme DuPuis. After completing her schooling at an accelerated pace and near the top of her class, Emeline graduated from Arthur Hill High School in 1950. On May 6, 1951, Emy was united in marriage to Max Goodman, and together they shared more than 45 years devoted to building a loving family until his death on October 2, 1996. Emy dedicated her life to raising four daughters. She built a home filled with love and music while managing the hectic schedules of her children. Together the family physically built the house she had lived in for over 70 years. It seemed that summers were spent either pouring cement or breaking it up and moving it to another spot.
In between the raising of her daughters, Emy started a career as a record keeper for her brother’s business, Thieme Plumbing and Heating and which transferred to Amigo Mobility as that business started and grew. Simultaneously, she was part owner of M&E Manufacturing with her husband. She ran the books while Max ran the shop until his stroke in 1993. When her time with Amigo was complete, she held the position as a Program Trainer for Computer Management Technology. She retired from this position in 2000.
Emy will best be remembered for her deep involvement with Faith Lutheran Church in Bridgeport, where she was the last surviving charter member.
Never one to remain idle, Emy served as the Michigan District President of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League from 1972 to 1976. She was also a strong supporter of the Midland Center for the Arts and the Saginaw Choral Society attending several concerts each year. Emy had a profound love for gardening, yard work, and her flowers. There were flowers blooming at appropriate times from spring through fall. The gardens all meticulously weeded by hand. There were fruits and vegetables canned and frozen to supply food for the family all winter long.
A straightforward wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother, she devoted her life to her family and her faith. Emy will be remembered always for the care, strength, and love she shared with everyone fortunate enough to know her.
Additionally, she always made special efforts to spend time with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Emeline is survived by her daughters, Lynne (Don) Prost and Laura Goodman; three grandchildren, Joshua (Christina) Prost, Jeffrey (Roselyn) Ellis, and Emma Goodman; nine great-grandchildren, Carter, Camden, Callan, Caysen, Abigail, Joanna, Phineas, Gladys, and Roy; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and beloved family members. Emeline was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Max Goodman; daughters, Waneta Goodman and Mary Ellis; sister, Miriam; her brothers, Alden and Allan; and her beloved sister-in-law, Marie.
