Ernest M. Plant II

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away peacefully with family by his side on Thursday July 11, 2024 at MyMichigan Medical Center after a brief illness; age 89 years.  Ernest was born on August 17, 1934 in Saginaw, MI to the late Ernest and Clara Plant. He shared 57 years of marriage to his loving wife Barbara. She survives him.

Ernest honorably served in the U.S Army Reserves. He graduated from the University of Michigan in 1957. He was employed by Saginaw Steering Gear as a Senior Design Engineer until his retirement. Ernest was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Frankentrost where he served as an Elder and was a member of their Men's Club. He enjoyed fishing, gardening, woodworking, and spending time in Tawas at the cabin.

Surviving besides his wife Barbara are four children: Ellen (Chad) Hart of Kannapolis, NC, Laura (Bryon) Gruesbeck of St. Charles, MO, Ernest (Sheri Little) Plant III of Midland, MI, and Eric (Jill) Plant of Frankenmuth, MI; grandchildren Katie, Jennifer, Carson, Rachel, Megan, and Sawyer; and two great-grandchildren, Luella and Chloe.

Ernest was preceded in death by brother Harvey Plant and sister Barbara Beden.

Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 12:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI. Rev. Dan Wojtowicz will officiate with burial to follow at St. John's Cemetery, Frankentrost. Ernest's family will receive visitors at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to American Lung Association or Immanuel Lutheran Church Park Hall Fund.
