Floyd Alvin Schluckebier

Went to be with his Lord Thursday, August 27, 2020, due to an auto accident; age 84 years. Floyd was born on March 22, 1936 to the late Alvin and Agnes (Schultz) Schluckebier. He was married to Ingeborg (Popp) in Nuestadt An Eisch Germany, she predeceased him in 1986. He was also married to Gina Muhlenkamp in May 2003, she predeceased him July 2020. He was a lifelong faithful member of St. Michael's Lutheran Church in Richville, MI where he held various offices. He worked for Sealy Aviation, Saginaw Steering Gear (Nexteer) for 25 years as an engineer. He then was employed by M.H. Hayes Corp. until his retirement. Past President of Frankenmuth Airport Assoc., member of the D.A.N.K. club of Detroit, and Slovenian American Button Box Club. He loved nothing more than playing his button box, harmonica, yodeling and dancing polka. He and Inge were also members of the original Schuhplattler of Frankenmuth. He was an avid aviation enthusiast. He graduated from Northrop Institute of Technology of Inglewood, CA in 1962. He also was a certified aircraft mechanic and inspector, earning the distinction of the Charles Taylor Master Mechanic award also the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Aviation award for 50 years dedicated to aviation safety, licensed aircraft pilot with I.F.R. and V.F.R. designation. He recently was restoring a vintage Pacer airplane.

Surviving are daughter Martina (Ken) Galentine of Manassas, VA, son Reiner Schluckebier of Vassar; granddaughters Lauren Galentine and Alyssa Galentine of Manassas, VA; brothers LeRoy Schluckebier, Wallace (Helga) Schluckebier of Frankenmuth, Stuart (Elisabeth) Schluckebier of Brighton, MI; sister Diane (Jim) Karst of Frankenmuth, brother and sister-in-law Erhardt (Gisela) Popp from Nuremberg, Germany and several nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents and wife Floyd was preceded in death by sister-in-law Ginny Schluckebier and sister-in-laws Gertude and Anna.

Funeral services will take place on Thursday, September 3, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's Lutheran Church, 3455 S. Van Buren Road, Richville, Michigan. Rev. Wesley Gillaspie will officiate with burial in St. Michael's Cemetery. Floyd's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Wednesday from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Thursday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
