Frank Boomhower

Lombard, Illinois formerly of Frankenmuth, MI

Frank Stanley Boomhower was received into heaven on May 20, 2020 at the age of 93. He was a long time member of St. Lorenz having married Martha Marie Bunjes of Frankenmuth in 1946 while in the United States Navy in San Diego, California. He served the Frankenmuth community as a barber for many years with his friend Arthur Zehnder, after which, in 1959, he moved his family to Colorado for reasons of health for his eldest son Michael. Frank and Martha returned to Frankenmuth in 1988 after his retirement and remained members of St. Lorenz until his death.

Mr. Boomhower lived a kind and humble life in quiet devotion to his family and to his Lord and Savior Jesus. He loved teddy bears, and in his later years while in Chicago living with his son Patrick after his wife Martha's death, he worked to provide teddy bears and stuffed toy animals to patients in Chicago area hospitals as well as to fund Clinical Pastoral Education programs at two area Medical Centers.

Frank is survived by his son Michael (Patricia) Boomhower of Seattle, Washington, and two grandsons Andrew and Peter also of the Seattle area, as well as Dr. Patrick Boomhower of Chicago, Illinois, and two sisters Jean Mononen and Jane Conacher of Ohio. He is predeceased by his dear wife Martha.

A private funeral service was be conducted by Rev. Mark Brandt of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Memorials to St. Lorenz Church, 1030 W Tuscola St, Frankenmuth, MI 48734 are appreciated.  Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
