Obituary

Gary Haubenstricker

Birch Run, MI

On September 22, 2018, Gary Haubenstricker, peacefully passed away surrounded by his family. Born to the late Carl and Lorine Haubenstricker on July 22, 1956, he has been a lifelong member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church. In June of 1978 he was joined in marriage with Anna where they have spent their last 40 years together residing in Frankenmuth, Michigan.  A man who claimed to "have the technology", Gary could always be found working on something in his shed and around his house or just plain working.  His career started with General Motors and continued with him proudly putting a "million miles under his belt" during an impressive 30+ year career as a truck driver where he has spent the last 17 years as a faithful and loyal employee of Penske Logistics. He had a deep appreciation for agriculture that drove him to spend hours in his garden and a selflessness that allowed him to share vegetables with family and friends. His profound love for camping would find him setting up his camper even in the backyard where he could be found on most summer evenings enjoying a campfire and admiring "God's country" as he would call it. His other hobbies also included hunting and fishing, but really it was anything that included cracking jokes and making people laugh. His absence from the lives of those that loved him will forever be felt by the void his mischievous laugh and friendly banter is leaving.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years Anna Haubenstricker as well as their two children along with their significant others: Haley Haubenstricker (Randy Garrett) and Adam Haubenstricker (Tricia Donnelly); his two ever present "sidekicks", his grandchildren: Austin Haubenstricker and Bristol Garrett, and also a bonus granddaughter Alexis Garrett; as well as seven brother and sisters: Eugene Haubenstricker, Luci Wallace (David), June Kern (Mike), Dennis Haubenstricker (Gloria), Dorothy Buchinger (Jeffery), Dallas Haubenstricker (Lisa), and Bonnie Weiss (David); and endless in-laws, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends that will mourn his passing. Gary is leaving us with 62 energetic years filled with laughter, adventures, holidays, and memories that will wrap themselves around his family and friends bringing them comfort in the upcoming days.
