George Hrit

Passed away peacefully Sunday, January 12, 2020, at his home, age 90 years. George was born on May 10, 1929 in Detroit, MI to the late Vasilie and Anna Hrit. He was married to Dorothy Skeen on September 17, 1949, she survives him. George honorably served in the US Marine Corps. He was employed by General Motors as an engineer for over 40 years and was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church.

Surviving besides his wife Dorothy are: 3 sons James (Karen) Hrit of Harrison Twp. MI, John (Kathleen) Hrit of Novi, MI, David (Susan) Hrit of Flushing, MI; grandchildren Michael (Renee) Dusseau, Eric Hrit, Kevin (Lisa) Hrit, Monica (Nicolas) Forgione, Stephanie Hrit, Allyson (Dan) Clunis, Megan Hrit, Michael Hrit, Patricia (Schuyler) Ferguson, Rebecca Hrit; 4 great- grandchildren Addison, Parker, Raylan, and Carson; brother and sister Peter (Mary Helen) Hrit, Irene Jones-Spencer and many nieces and nephews.

George was preceded in death by 1 daughter Kathleen; 1 grandson Matthew; and 5 brothers and sisters.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, January 18, 2020, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate with cremation to follow. George's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and at church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. There will be a Prayer Service on Friday at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
