G. Allan "Al" Cline passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 at Covenant Glen; age 95 years. Son of the late Noah and Ruth (Allan) Cline. Born in Detroit, MI on May 8, 1929 Al and his family relocated to Saginaw, MI where he attended Saginaw Public Schools graduating from Saginaw High School in June, 1947. He then attended Albion College for two years and Michigan State University for three years graduating June, 1952, earning a B.S. in Landscape Architecture.
Al served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean Conflict (1952-1954) as a Navy Seabee Surveyor. During that time he married Carol M. Richmond on May 9, 1953. Together they enjoyed traveling, gardening, family gatherings, and volunteering. Al practiced landscape architecture in Midland, MI for 13 years and landscape architecture with the Kentucky Department of State for 22 years, helping to develop the Kentucky State Park System. The Commonwealth of Kentucky honored him as a Kentucky Colonel in December 1987.
Al enjoyed volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Covenant Hospital, Christmas in July, the Temple Theater project, and a continuing volunteer for work projects at his church, Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, resulting in meeting many new friends.
Al leaves his wife Carol, daughter Linda Roush, son Roger (Judy), grandchildren Matthew Roush, Melissa (Jim) Young, Jeremy (Lauren) Cline, great grandson Liam Cline, and sister-in-law Joann Cline. He was predeceased by his brother Jack and son-in-law Frank Roush.
Along the way you may have noticed Al digging a hole somewhere in order to establish a new plant creating interest to the landscape.
Memorial Service will take place on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Frankenmuth United Methodist Church, 346 Vates St., Frankenmuth, Michigan. Glenn's family will receive visitors at the church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Frankenmuth United Methodist Church.
