Went home with the Lord December 9, 2020; age 92 years. Harold was born on March 3 rd , 1928 in Birch Run, MI to the late August and Anna Block Braeutigam. He was married to Marilyn Voorheis on July 7 th , 1951 until she predeceased him on December 10 th , 1988. He was then married to Jeanne Borcherding, who survives him, on December 22, 1990. He graduated from Michigan State College (University) in 1951 and ran his veterinary practice from 1951 to 1996. He served in the U.S. Army Veterinary Corps as 1 st Lieutenant from 1953 to 1955. Harold served 24 years as the Treasurer and Vice President of the Frankenmuth School Board and established the first Frankenmuth Little League team. He was an Adjunct Clinical Professor for MSU and was President of the Michigan Veterinary Medical Association. He was appointed by Governor Blanchard to the State Board of Veterinary Medicine. Harold served as President of St. Lorenz, was a member of the mixed choir; served on the Board of Directors of the LCMS and helped to establish the St. Lorenz Foundation. He was a member of both the Frankenmuth Chamber of Commerce and the American Legion Post 150 and he also worked alongside other business leaders to establish the Frankenmuth city charter. He was a District Governor of Rotary and held perfect attendance for 64 years. Harold received many awards including the Champion for Children in 2016, the Herbert L. Keineth Award, the Paul Harris Fellow, the Michigan Veterinary Association Service Award, the MSU College of Veterinary Medicine Alumni Award, was inducted into the Frankenmuth Softball Association Hall of Fame, as well as many others.
Besides his wife Jeanne, Harold is survived by Dr. Kim (Chris) Braeutigam of Frankenmuth, Dr. Kent (Lori) Braeutigam of Orange Park, FL, Jon (Wendy) Braeutigam of Laingsburg, MI; his step-children Linda (Steve) Kuhl of Rochester, MI, Steve (Dawn) Borcherding of New York, David Borcherding of Auburn Hills, MI; his sister-in-law Marion Braeutigam; his grandchildren Ehrin (Matt) Rittmueller, Allie (Dr. Adam) Fox, Kort Braeutigam, Amy (Jeff) Vallone, Craig L'Hommedieu, Laura (Seth) Rohr, Daniel Braeutigam, Luke (Isabelle) Braeutigam, Kirstie Borcherding, Erin (Matt) Heinrich, Ryan (Amber) Kuhl, Abbie Borcherding; and his 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his wife Marilyn, Harold is predeceased by his daughter Susan Beth Braeutigam; his brothers Fred, Norman, and Ruben "Bill" Braeutigam; his sisters Caroline Palmreuter, Milda Block, and Lorine Pagels; his mother-in-law Amanda Voorheis and Edna Kellerman; his sister-in-law Judith Naegele; and brother-in-law Don Kellerman.
Funeral Services will take place on Tuesday, December 15 th , 2020 at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church at 12 noon. Harold's family will receive visitors on Tuesday at St. Lorenz Church from 10:30 AM until time of service.
