Harold J. Maurer 96 of Frankenmuth passed away December 1, 2020. He was born February 12, 1924 on the family farm in Denmark Township, Tuscola County. He was the son of the late Arthur and Hedwig (Schreiner) Maurer. Harold attended St. Michael's school in Richville. He married the former Ruth Loesel August 15, 1952 in Frankenmuth; she survives him. Harold was a faithful member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth. He sang in the choir for 80 years and attended Bible Studies and served on various church committees. Harold enjoyed Wednesday Bible class, bringing doughnuts for many years. He enjoyed choir, bowling, cards, and was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Harold worked for Weber Lumber and then worked for Carling Brewery and did farming as well.

Surviving besides his wife Ruth of 68 years are his 4 sons Daniel (Bonnie) Maurer of Frankenmuth MI, Paul Maurer of Titusville FL, Ernest (Diane) Maurer of Vassar, MI, Kenneth (Lynn) Maurer of Frankenmuth, MI; 8 grandchildren Joshua Maurer of Birch Run MI, Joseph (Kate) Maurer of Schoolcraft, MI, Matthew (Stephanie) Maurer of Birch Run, MI, Andrew (Erica) Maurer of Marietta, GA, Dr. Laura Maurer of Chicago, Ill, Paige (Ben) Smith of Portage, MI, Faith Maurer of Frankenmuth, MI, Alex Maurer of Greensboro, NC; 5 great grandchildren Genesis, Celelia, Hayden, Vivian and Briella Maurer; sister Eleanor Krafft of Frankenmuth, MI; 2 sisters-in-law Marie Maurer of Richville, MI, and Claudia Maurer of Curtis, MI.

In addition to his parents Harold was predeceased by an infant son; 3 brothers Harvey Maurer, Hilton (Lilias) Maurer, Harlan Maurer; 1 sister Bernice (Waldo) Roedel, brother-in-law Harold Krafft; 1 grandson Jacob Maurer.

Due to COVID 19 restrictions a private family service will take place. The service can be viewed on the St. Lorenz website https://www.stlorenz.org/stream/ on Tuesday December 8 th at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the St. Lorenz Male Choir, St. Lorenz Student Aid or the St. Lorenz Vicar Fund.
