Henry H. Bender

Frankenmuth, MI

Went to be with his Lord Monday, April 16, 2018, at Medilodge of Frankenmuth; age 91 years.  Henry was born on September 27, 1926 in Frankenmuth, MI to the late Henry Sr. and Alma (Weiss) Bender.  He honorably served during WWII.  He was married to Ellen M. Weiss on December 22, 1948; she survives him.  Henry was employed by Carling Brewery for 35 years and for Bronner's for many years.  He was a member of St. Lorenz Lutheran Church and served on various boards.  He loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren and enjoyed playing cards and fishing.

Surviving besides his wife Ellen are their children; Janet (Hogey) Holtz of Saginaw, MI, Frank (Cathy) Bender of Frankenmuth, MI, Debra (William) Kinsey of Cypress, TX, William (Karen) Bender of Birch Run, MI, Julie (Dave) Hausbeck of Frankenmuth, MI, Michael (Diane) Bender of Frankenmuth, MI; son-in-law Ed Opperman of Vassar, MI; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; a sister Kathleen Weber; 2 sisters-in-law Mildred (Ruben) Bender and Betty (Marcus) Bender, and many nieces and nephews.

Henry was preceded in death by a daughter Sandra Opperman and 5 brothers; Eugene, Edmar, Ruben, Marcus and Lester Bender

Funeral services will take place on Friday, April 20, 2018, at 10:15 a.m. at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St., Frankenmuth, Michigan and 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church.  Rev. Shawn Fenske will officiate with burial between services in St. Lorenz Cemetery.  Henry's family will receive visitors at the funeral home on Thursday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Friday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.
