Inga Trestrail

Passed away peacefully in her sleep on Monday, July 27, 2026 at Winter Village; age 102 years. Inga Nelson was born on December 2, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Anders and Hildur Nelson. Inga grew up in Evanston, Illinois. While on a family vacation, she met William Benedict Trestrail in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in the town of Crystal Falls (his hometown). They married on July 11, 1947 and spent 65 years together; he predeceased her on October 17, 2012.

Surviving are son William Anders (Lisa) Trestrail; grandchildren Jennifer (Robert) Van Meter and Sarah Jeter; great-grandchildren Claire and Max Jeter; step great-granddaughter Robyn Van Meter; nieces and nephews Carl (Regina) Cleary, Nelson (Enid) Cleary, Fred (Theresa) Cleary, Linda (Tim) Ayers, Chuck (Jan) Gates, Helen (Gary) Tinsley, Leslie (Mark) Thorkelson, Betty (Cary) Hiner, Judi Severson, Ken (Tina) Moberg, and many old neighbors from Westland, MI and her friends at Winter Village.

Besides her parents and husband, Inga was preceded in death by her brother and sisters, Anders (Lois) Nelson, Britta (Carl) Cleary, Anna Marie (Hank) Bowman, Karin (Frank) Wheeler; nephews Paul Moberg and Stevie Bowman, and niece Bess Ann Gates.

According to Inga’s wishes cremation has taken place. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to the Humane Society of Midland County (the humane society her beloved granddog Bo was adopted from).
