Irene Margaret Palmreuter
Frankenmuth, MI
Loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend moved into glory Monday, May 9, 2022. Irene Schwab was born on September 5, 1943, at Bay City General Hospital to the late Walter and Laura (Neumeyer) Schwab.
Irene graduated from Delta Nursing School and worked in the operating room at Saginaw General Hospital until Earl and Irene were married on April 9, 1972, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Frankenlust, MI. Earl and Irene tried to take a family vacation every year.
(Highlights) In 2003 and 2008 they traveled to Germany and in 2013 they went to Alaska and in 2016 the Holy Land (Israel). In 2019-2020 they took a New Year's Eve Caribbean Cruise with Dr. David Jeremiah. Irene and Earl recently celebrated their 50 th anniversary at Brian's House with family and friends.
Irene was loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She had a beautiful soprano singing voice and shared that talent for many years, beginning in the third grade. Irene later joined St. Michael's Lutheran Church and sang in the adult choir most of her life.
Irene loved flowers and gardening, she would make costumes for children and did canning of fruits and vegetables and always kept a tidy home.
Irene had a strong gift for leadership and served in various leadership roles throughout her life. Irene started Bay City Lutheran Young Adults, and most recently by serving in the Gideon's International Auxiliary. To know Irene was to love her and knowing her meant that you knew she was always ready to smile and lend a helpful hand. Irene was a very special and beautiful lady, precious in the sight of God and all people who knew her. It can truly be said of Irene "Well done good and faithful servant of the Lord."
Surviving besides her husband of 50 years, Earl, are two daughters and one son: Audrey (Tim) Brown, Neal Palmreuter, and Rachel (Scott) Sumner; grandchildren Abigil and Grace Brown, Katie, Jillian, and Benjamin Palmreuter, and Bella and Brandon Sumner; three sisters Lorraine (Rev. Glen) Sattelmeier, Viola (Gordon) Sattelmeier, Esther (Harold) Bergdolt; brother-in-law Larry (Audrey) Palmreuter; and sisters-in-law Caroline Holzhei and Beverly Palmreuter.
