Irma Rittmueller
Dec. 11, 1925 – Oct. 23, 2020
Born Dec. 11, 1925 Irma (Weber) Rittmueller grew up on a rural Richville farm with parents Christian and Emma (Bierlein) Weber. She was the youngest of six children: Wilbert, Arnold, Raymond, Rueben and Eleanor (Radina) Weber, all who predeceased her. Her sisters-in-law Dorothy Weber, Marion Braeutigam, and Eunice Drew survive her as well as many nieces and nephews. Mom was raised resilient, having overcome challenges of the time including Polio and seeing brothers off to WWII. That determination and strength of will carried her through other tough times. She grew up strong in faith and prized her independence and her family. She passed away still "feisty" at the age of 94, a resident of Legends Memory Care, Legacy Assisted Living, Jackson MI.
In 1950, Mom married Gilbert E. Rittmueller who pre-deceased her in 2008, building a home together and raising four children: Sharon (Alan) Radka, James (Tammy) Rittmueller, Kathryn (Lon) Kimberlin, Jeanne Rittmueller. Mom and Dad's pride and joy were their seven grandkids and six great-grandkids, multiple grand-pups and grand-kittens. Mom was very proud of all of us and always there if you needed her.
While raising a family, often on her own, mom took care of her house, yard and flower garden passionately especially after retirement. A couple years back at 92 you would find her with clippers in hand, trimming trees and shrubs. She passed on that love of gardening to all (most ;D) of her kids. She loved music, travel and art – often dragging us kids in the wagon across the country. Dad and she had a full life near extended family, raising us and growing old in the same house they built.
As a Mom, friend or grandparent, she could giggle like a kid with the grandkids, was scared of bridges and high places, always asked what was trump in a euchre game, was a good baker and more often than not, over-cooked her chicken. She listened to Polka hour every Saturday morn, loved John Wayne and Andre' Rieu.
We take comfort that in her final hours, her memories became clearer of those early days. Days of walking the fields with her "Pa", petting a favorite calf or playing Pinocle, her memories pure and filled with joy.
