Irvin E. Haase, 98, of Frankenmuth, passed away at home, Monday, October 26 th , surrounded by his family. Irv was born March 2, 1922 in Cole Camp, Missouri, to John Emil and Agnes Irene (Schleier) Haase. Baptized April 7, 1922 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Cole Camp. He moved with his parents to Frankenmuth in 1928. He was confirmed April 5, 1936 at St. John's Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth. He graduated from Arthur Hill High School in Saginaw.
He was employed by Second National Bank of Saginaw from August 1, 1941 where he retired in January 1983 as Vice President. He received his Banking Degree from University of Michigan and University of Wisconsin. Irv served as a Naval Aviator in WWII from 1943-1946, with action in the South Pacific, Philippines, and China. He was awarded the Air Medal with 2 gold stars. Irv was involved in his church serving on the Board of Directors for LACE (Lutheran Association for Church Extension) from 1969-1999. He was a charter member of King of Kings Lutheran Church of Frankenmuth. He served as President of Saginaw Riverside Kiwanis from 1979-1980. He was also involved in the Saginaw Crime Commission and The Financial Institute Security Team of Saginaw. He was a member of the VFW post 2725 of Frankenmuth. Irv was an avid golfer, bowler and enjoyed tennis, and camping and traveling with his family.
He married Donna R. Loesel on June 5, 1948. She predeceased him on March 21, 2017.Surviving are: one son and one daughter, Rick (Linda) Haase, Patti (Mark) Brooks; five grandchildren, John (Jackie) Haase of Wichita, KS, Paul (Lisa) Haase of Novi MI, Rachel Faulkiner of Jackson, MI, Amanda Brooks of Traverse City, MI, Rebecca (Jesse) Erb of Wichita, KS; six great-grandchildren, Grace, Andrew and Joshua Haase, Aidan and Evan Haase, and Gwendolyn Faulkiner; sisters-in-law Yvonne Kuck and Phyllis Fischer and several nieces and nephews.
Irvin's family will receive visitors at King of Kings Lutheran Church, 1019 Covenant Dr., Frankenmuth, Michigan on Saturday October 31, 2020 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Due to COVID-19 social distancing will be practiced. Masks will be required by all those in attendance.
Private family services will take place Saturday at 2:30 p.m. The service will be broadcast live on the Cederberg Funeral Home Facebook Page. After the service it will be available on the Cederberg Funeral Home Website. Rev. Wade Turner will officiate with burial in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to King of King's Lutheran Church.
