James Emet Flasher passed away Sunday January 5, 2020 after a lengthy illness surrounded by family at Covenant Cooper Hospital; age 73 years. James was born on December 17, 1946 in Asheville, North Carolina to the late Emet W. Flasher and Phyllis (Scheuer) Flasher. James graduated Wilbur Wright Co-operative High School, Detroit in 1965. He served in the U.S Army as a Sgt. E5 earning a bronze star in Vietnam. James married Nancy Lisa Haver on April 1, 1989 in Clawson, MI. James retired after 40 years from Ryder Transportation Service as a supervisor. He enjoyed many activities, especially camping with family on holidays.
Survived by his devoted wife Nancy Lisa nee: Haver and loving children Michael (Sandra) McCoy of Davisburg, Jeffrey Flasher of Capac, Michelle (Eric) Florka of Lapeer, Melonie Flasher of Lake Orion, Nickole Flasher of Oxford, Lisa Flasher of Clawson, Brenda Flasher of Birch Run, and beloved grandchildren Devon, Alyssa, Prescott, Saul, Hector, Charlotte, Emilio, and Diana; brothers and sisters Jean Kerrigan of Marysville, Phyllis Flasher of Macomb Twp, Theresa (Robert) Froberg of Clinton Twp, Esther Flasher of New Baltimore, Carolyn (Jerry) Shekoski of New Baltimore, John (Sue) Flasher of Casco Twp.; brother and sisters in laws Mike (Sharon) Haver, Joe (Marianne) Haver, Sue (Carl) Dykgraaf, James (Janet) Haver, Sally Scott, Steve (Linda) Haver, and many special nieces and nephews. James was preceded in death by his brother Robert Flasher.
Funeral services will take place on Sunday, January 12, 2020 at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin Street. James' family will receive immediate family from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., open visitation will start at 11:00 a.m. and end at 6:00 p.m. The prayer service will take place at 3:00 p.m. Burial will take place at the VA Great Lakes National Cemetery, 4200 Belford Rd. Holly, MI, on Monday January 13 th at 10:30 a.m. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to I support the 1% veteran's food pantry.
