Passed away peacefully Thursday, January 1, 2026, at his home surrounded by family; age 64 years. Jim was born on January 15, 1961 in Saginaw, MI to Pete and Lynn Janson. He was married to Donna Schiefer on September 29, 1990. Together they recently celebrated 35 wonderful years of marriage. She survives him.

Jim worked alongside his dad most his life for Janson Builders, finishing his career at Blasius Countertops. He was a lifelong member of Immanuel Lutheran Church Frankentrost where he volunteered on many committees, his favorite being teaching Sunday School for many years. Jim was a master gardener and an avid Detroit Sports fan. Jim enjoyed completing numerous home improvement projects for his daughters, hunting, fishing, camping and Frankenmuth sports, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Surviving alongside his wife Donna and his parents are: three daughters, Kaitlyn (Jason) Enser, Sarah (Nick) Szczepanski, and Emily (Denver) Bonkowski; grandchildren Margo and Sutton Enser, Crew Bonkowski, and two more on the way; sister Jill (Dave) Ritter; brothers-in-law Ron Schiefer, Leon (Stacy) Schiefer, and Terry (Deb) Schiefer; mother-in-law Ruth E. Schiefer; and many nieces and nephews.

Jim was preceded in death by his father-in-law Myron Schiefer and sister-in-law Sherri Schiefer.

The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, January 8, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 8220 Holland Rd., Frankentrost, MI. The Rev. Mark Loest will officiate with burial to follow in Immanuel-St. John's Frankentrost Cemetery. Jim's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. Frankenmuth, on Wednesday from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Immanuel Lutheran School, Daycare, or Sunday School Program.
