Passed away unexpectedly, Saturday February 27, 2021, at his home; age 76 years. James was born on August 26, 1944 in Lansing, MI to the late Harry and Doris Williams. Jim was married to Martha Fitz on May 6, 1967, she survives him. Jim honorably served in the National Guard. Jim was employed at AVI-SPL as a senior account manager. He was a founding member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, and active in many ministries. He volunteered as a Frankenmuth Jaycee and became a JCI Senator, volunteered at Volkslaufe, received the HLK Award, volunteered for WEB, was a CEC past president, served on the parks and rec commission, and filmed Frankenmuth high school football games for many years. Jim loved gardening, golf, and always kept busy. He was a huge MSU fan.
Surviving besides his wife Mardy are one son Robert (Diane) Williams of Scotts, MI; one daughter Jamie (Glenn) Whitmore of Kalamazoo, MI; one special granddaughter Kileigh Whitmore; brothers and sisters Richard (Suzanne) Williams, Jeane Ann (LeRoy) Cardwell, John (Faye) Williams, Mary (Tom Bensel) Williams; brothers-in-law Louis (Joyce Durdel) Fitz, Charles (JoAnn) Fitz Jr. and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was preceded in death by brother and sister-in-law David (Karen) Williams; two sisters-in-law Maryon Fitz and Mary Jo Houck.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, March 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan. The service will be live streamed at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church Frankenmuth Michigan - Blessed Trinity Catholic Church-Home (btmuth.org) Fr. Patrick Jankowiak will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Lansing, MI. Jim's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Friday from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and at church on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Frankenmuth City Beautification Fund, Salvation Army, or a charity of the donor's choice.
