Janet L. Maxwell

Waterford, MI

Janet Maxwell passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Pontiac surrounded by family from postsurgical complications; age 76 years.  Janet was born on October 14, 1946 in Port Huron, MI to the late Frank and Joyce Dunn. She graduated from Port Huron High School and worked at North American Insurance Company. She was married for 53 years to Larry Maxwell on January 27, 1968 in Port Huron, MI. He preceded her in death on March 17, 2021.

Janet dedicated her life to being a loyal wife, mother, and grandmother and made sure all felt welcome in their home. She was successful in this. Janet was a member of First Missionary Church of Clarkston and served faithfully in the church kitchen for many years. She enjoyed tending her garden, growing flowers, feeding the birds and birdwatching. Janet lived for Christmas and her house looked like Bronner's during the holidays. She faithfully served in Gideons Auxiliary alongside her husband.

Surviving are: her children, L. Alan (Elizabeth) Maxwell of Tecumseh, Laura (Dale) Gilbert of Waterford, and Jason (Shelly) Maxwell of Frankenmuth; grandchildren Lorraine (Tyeler) Stidham, Curtis O'Dell, Leah (Caleb) Doehrman, Lydia and Travis Maxwell, Austin, Allie and Andrew Gilbert, Morgan and Mackinsey Maxwell, Connor Cabello, and Liam and Emmie Cederberg; great-granddaughter Madilyn Doehrman; sister Frances Graham; brother Terry (Beverly) Dunn; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband Larry, Janet was preceded in death by an infant daughter Gail Lynn Maxwell.

Funeral service will take place on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at First Missionary Church, 4832 Clintonville Rd, Clarkston, MI 48346.  Rev. Matthew Mendenhall will officiate. Janet's family will receive visitors at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
