Joan Hindelang

Frankenmuth, MI

Passed away peacefully at home with family by her side Saturday, February 13, 2021; age 76 years. Joan Szymanski was born on August 21, 1944 in Detroit, MI to the late Theodore and Eugenia Szymanski. She was married to James Hindelang on November 18, 1967, he survives her. Joan received training in Detroit at Providence Hospital School of Nursing, she was a nurse at the Lutheran Home and later head of nursing at Independence Village in Frankenmuth. Joan was an active member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church and was involved in other local charities.

Surviving besides her husband James are two sons David (Chieko) Hindelang and Matthew Hindelang OFM Cap.; three grandchildren Sabrina, Veronica, and Zachary; brothers and sisters Daniel, Christine, Dolores, Patricia, Theodore and Maria.

Joan was preceded in death by her sister Sally.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Friday, February 19, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, 958 E. Tuscola Rd., Frankenmuth, Michigan.  Fr. Richard Owens OFM Cap. will officiate with cremation to follow. Joan's family will receive visitors at church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
