John C. Koester

Frankenmuth, MI

Went to be with his Lord Thursday, October 25, 2018, at his home with family by his side; age 90 years. John was born on October 26, 1927, in Avon, South Dakota to the late Angelus and Maria Koester. He was married to Leone on November 29, 1958 in New York. They then settled in Frankenmuth, Michigan; she survives him. John owned and operated Koester Builders and Real Estate. He was a member of St. Luke's Lutheran Church in Vassar, MI., and also a Paul Harris Fellow member of the Frankenmuth Rotary Club for many years. He enjoyed baseball, fishing and many college sports. He loved spending time with his grandsons.

Surviving besides his wife of 59 years, Leone, are children: Annette (Randy) Johnson of Perry, MI., Paul Koester (Terrie Ham) of Frankenmuth, MI., Kathy (Jeff) Fischer of Birmingham, MI., grandsons; Hamilton Nash, Micah Johnson, JonMarc Johnson, Andrew Koester, Joshua Fischer, Justin Fischer, great-grandchildren, 1 brother; Walter (Karen) Koester, sisters-in-law and brother-in-law; Louise (Ed) Engel, Pauline Sim, Ellie Koester and many cousins, nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by 2 sisters; Margaret Wilson and Elizabeth Sebald, and 1 brother; Henry Koester.

Funeral services will take place Wednesday, October 31, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Luke's Lutheran Church, 916 W. Huron Ave, Vassar, Michigan. John's family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N. Franklin St. on Tuesday from 2:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Wednesday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will take place at St. John's Cemetery in Frankenmuth.
