Obituary

John Schwaegerle

Frankenmuth, MI

John Schwaegerle, husband, father, son, and child of God, was received into the arms of Jesus on July 7, 2026 after a lengthy health battle. He was born July 3, 1963 to Earl and Greta Schwaegerle. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Westland. He married his wife of twenty-nine years, Judy, on June 21, 1997, a day he referred to as the longest day of his life. After sixty years living on Henry Ruff Road in Garden City, he moved to his happy place - Frankenmuth. He loved his monthly trips through the magic of Bronners.

John loved playing and watching sports. He treasured his memories playing basketball, softball, and throwing shot put and discus. While he held the Garden City West record in shot put and discus, he knew that being faithful to God would earn him the crown of life. John knew the sure hope of the resurrection. During his final visits with family and friends, he shared that hope reminding visitors that Jesus loved him and Jesus loved them, too.

John worked for Northwest and Delta Airlines for over thirty years. He was recognized for his integrity when he found a suitcase full of money while working baggage claim. He missed his coworkers above the wing in 118 when his vision no longer allowed him to do the job he loved.

Besides his wife, Judy, he is survived by his son, Joshua, brothers Kenneth (Lori) and Brian (Christina) and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will take place on July 10, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Lorenz Lutheran Church, 1030 W. Tuscola, Frankenmuth, Michigan. John’s family will receive visitors at Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth, 590 N.
