Obituary

John A. Spero
Birch Run, MI

John Albert Spero, 71, was welcomed into the loving arms of Jesus on Wednesday, April 15, 2020 with family by his side.  John's love of the Lord and Savior was evidenced in the love he had for his family and the desire to reunite with all in heaven.  John was born in Saginaw, Michigan on February 12, 1949 to the late Albert and Clara Spero.  He was a graduate of Bridgeport High School and Michigan State University.  On August 15, 1970, he married Dianne Kaye Ruppert at Fairgrove Presbyterian Church.  John was involved with agriculture on the centennial family farm from an early age.  He served the community through various boards; Agricultural Commissioner for the State of Michigan, Farm Bureau, Saginaw Soil Conservation, Michigan Sugar Board of Directors, and as Chairman of the Flint River Dike and Erosion Control board for 36 years.  John loved the Lord, his family, and farming.  He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Reese, Michigan.  He enjoyed working the land and being a good steward of God's gifts.  John was known for sharing his sense of humor and wit especially with his grandchildren.

Surviving besides his wife, Dianne K. Spero are 3 children, Sarah (Peter) Hudeck of Saginaw, MI; James (Stamatia) Spero of Rockford, MI; Joseph (Sharon) Spero of Birch Run, MI; 9 grandchildren, Caroline Hudeck, Daniel Hudeck, Stella Spero, John Spero, Dianna Spero, Peter Spero, Adam Spero, Rose Spero, and Eric Spero; 1 sister, Alice (James) Keene of San Antonio, TX; and nieces, nephews, and their families.

John was preceded in death by his brother Herman Spero; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law; Raymond and Janice Ruppert, Kenneth and Pamela Ruppert.

The family wishes to thank all those who lifted him with cards, prayers, and words of encouragement, throughout his journey and battle with cancer.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions a private family service will take place at Brookside Cemetery, Fairgrove, MI with Reverend Daniel Burhop officiating.  Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorials to Trinity Lutheran Church or Wings of Mercy East Michigan.  Arrangements entrusted to Cederberg Funeral Home of Frankenmuth.
