Obituary

John E. Wojt

Frankenmuth, MI

John Edward Wojt, 85, passed away peacefully at his home with his daughters by his side.

John was born on December 28, 1940, in Saginaw, Michigan, to Julius and Bernice (Muszynski) Wojt.

He graduated in 1959 from Reese High School where he was a member of the undefeated and unscored upon 1958 football team. He served in the Army from 1960-1962 in Korea. He married Lilly Mayer on October 12, 1963, she predeceased him on July 16, 2009.

He was employed by Carlings Brewery, Universal Engineering, Zehnder’s of Frankenmuth and the United States Postal Service, from which he retired in 2003, after 32 years.

He was a member of the Frankenmuth Conservation Club, where he served as a past board member, and the American Legion Post 150. John was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Frankenmuth where he served on the board of Elders and Church Council.

He is survived by his two daughters, Sherry (David) Eldredge, Aiken, SC, and Cindy Wojt, Frankenmuth, who was his sidekick and most recently, his caregiver. His two granddaughters, who he adored, Ashley (AJ) Hanks and Mackenzie (Jordan Clayton), all of Aiken, SC. His three great grandsons, Ridge, Rhett, and Reese Hanks. John looked forward to their visits and FaceTime calls. To them, he was known as their Great Papa! He is also survived by his brother, Martin (Nancy) Adrian of Bay City.

Besides his wife Lilly, John was predeceased by his parents, Julius Wojt, Bernice and Martin Adrian, his brother, Charles Wojt and sister, Donna Kreil.

He was an avid Detroit Tigers and Lions fan, along with Michigan State. You could always find him watching sports on TV or listening to polka music. He enjoyed playing euchre with his family and could always take a trick with minimal trump (he always amazed us on how he did that).

Well done good and faithful servant!!
